Compelled | Her Justice. My Burden.

The Power of Being Compelled

Compelled: To have a powerful irresistible effect or influence; driven. The feeling of being compelled drives people to do powerful things. Once you see the statistics and the stories of the women and children imprisoned by trafficking and sexual exploitation, it’s difficult to not feel compelled to do something.

Compelled has been a part of Freedom 4/24’s story since the very beginning. Our founder, Christine Gelatt, after seeing the exploitation of women in Thailand, was compelled to use her voice and resources to stand for freedom and justice for the millions of people being trafficked in the world. Christine witnessed people buying girls for sex for the equivalent of $24 and wondered how $24 could instead be used to support partners on the frontlines to ensure justice for the victims they see every day.

Harnessing the power of being compelled can change the world; so today, we must ask ourselves—what are we doing with the powerful and irresistible effect of being compelled?

2 Corinthians 5:14 says, “the love of Christ compels us…” God loves every single life stuck in the cycle of sexual slavery, and He is compelling our hearts to act.

Traffickers Compel Victims

“Both U.S. and international law define human trafficking as the use of force, fraud, or coercion to compel someone into labor or commercial sex.” If the feeling of being compelled drives people to do powerful things, we must face the reality that more traffickers are compelling victims into sexual exploitation than people are being compelled to tangibly fight it. Every day, vulnerable women and children are compelled by lies, manipulation, and abuse and become victims of sexual slavery. But every day, we can be compelled by the love of Christ to do whatever we can to fight slavery, be their ally, and use our resources and freedom to make her justice, our burden.

Her Justice

Proverbs 31:8-9 calls us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, to seek and ensure justice for the oppressed. This is restorative justice. Restorative justice seeks out the vulnerable, advocates for their rights, and changes societal structures to ensure justice.

My Burden

Galatians 6:2 calls us to carry each other's burdens. When we see hurting people, we are called to take on their burdens as if they are our own. Carrying burdens is a radical way of living. It’s not easy, comfortable, or convenient. If we ask God to break our heart for what breaks His, “Her Justice. My Burden” becomes a way of life devoted to using whatever we have to bring freedom and justice. Freedom isn’t free, but it’s worth the price.

Be Her Ally | 4/24 Allies

If it weren’t for the generosity of people, young girls like Priscilla would not know a life of freedom. Priscilla is a survivor of sexual exploitation, but was once a victim—a 13-year-old girl from Uganda whose father is deceased and mother is mentally ill. Priscilla was abused and raped by a family member. No longer safe in her own home, she lived on the streets. She was taken advantage of and left with no one to take care of her. But one day, our partner Christine’s House, became aware of Priscilla’s situation and brought her into their home. She now lives to tell her story of freedom. Because of financial generosity, we are able to provide the operating costs for Christine’s House and help all of our partners in the U.S., India, and Thailand.

Will you be compelled to become an Ally for Priscilla and so many others like her? 4/24 Allies empower Freedom 4/24 and our partners to bring freedom and justice to victims and survivors of human trafficking through meeting tangible needs and providing liberation both physically and spiritually for individuals in bondage. For just $24 a month or more, you can bring freedom all year long.

Be The Reason

Be the reason cases of human trafficking lower. Be the reason women and children get to live in freedom instead of fear. Be the reason women and children get to hear the hope of Jesus.

Her justice is our burden to carry.

“I think what Freedom 4/24 has always done from the very beginnings is given people a way to do a little or lot but nothing is not an okay answer. We all have something we can do.”

- Christine Gelatt | Founder
