Jessica Geesaman recently completed her very first marathon. She knew that she wanted to tackle this feat, but she wanted to do it with purpose. A few months ago she contacted Freedom 4/24 in order to explore the possiblitity of supporting our organization through the race. We were excited about her idea and throughout the proceeding couple of months she began to spread the message of Freedom 4/24 and urged people to support her run by donating $24 to Freedom 4/24. On January 10, 2010 Jessica’s months of training paid off when she completed the Disney Marathon.
Jessica said, “I had designed a Freedom 4/24 shirt to represent while running and on the back of the shirt it had the verse Romans 9:16 on it, ‘It is not the man who wills or runs, but God who shows mercy.’ It was an incredible witness at the race as I had many people comment and talk to me about my shirt. It was that verse and that reminder that allowed me to do this race alone… knowing that it was God, God that shows mercy and God that carry’s us to the end.”
